Santani Wellness Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka

Santani is a contemporary, wellness retreat situated in the heart of the hill country on the site of a former 48-acre tea plantation, surrounded by pristine forest, just northeast of the ancient capital of Kandy.

This destination spa has been a passion in the making, taking over two years alone to find the perfect location. The sweeping panoramic views of jungle and rice paddies offer utter serenity, in which to practice yoga, meditation or simply just get back to yourself. Whatever your interests are this is a truly wonderful spot to unwind during your whistle stop tour of the Emerald Island.

For those keen to experience the wellness offering, this unique retreat offers a personalised approach to each guest, providing arrival consultations with the in-house Ayurvedic doctor in order to access your health goals and physical condition.

Personalised meal plans are then created to ensure the best results. Treatments range from traditional Abhyangam Ayurevdic massages through to western treatments such as Deep Tissue, body wraps and Swedish massage.

From the lighter options of juicing, and raw foods through to the heartier traditional local fare of spiced, coconut curries, there is a choice for everyone, served in the beautifully elevated light filled, restaurant, near the open-air main pavilion lounge with its biodynamic wine & fresh juice bar.

Each of the 16 naturally ventilated rooms are over 500 sqft, with large king sized beds, floor to ceiling windows, simply neutral tones, open air balconies and panoramic views.

At the heart of the retreat lies the tri-level spa built into the natural contours of the hillside. The hydrotherapy level houses a steam room, cedar wood sauna with glass wall and open air thermal salt pool. The lower level treatments rooms are open to the surrounding paddy fields and serenading bird song.

Alongside the spa there is a scenic 16m infinity lap pool and yoga pavilion. Spend your days relaxing or going on gentle hikes and visiting the local tea plantations, the scenery here really is to be enjoyed.
