Mountains, Myths & Tigers of Uttarakhand

Locally referred to as Dev Bhoomi, The Land of the Gods, Uttarakhand offers some of the most dramatic landscapes in the country, from lofty peaks to verdant valleys, wooded jungles and roaring rivers. This tour will take you from the Imperial capital of Delhi to the breathtaking scenery of Binsar, where legend has it, that the hill station was named after the 16th Century Bineshwar Mahadev Temple. This quaint village offers wonderful hill treks, with sweeping views over the Kumaon hills and mountains peaks beyond.

From here, head to India’s first National Tiger reserve, Corbett National Park, established in 1936 and named after the famed hunter Jim Corbett following the publication of his book ‘The Man-Eaters of Kumaon’. Following a few days out in the wildness searching for a sight of the illusive Tiger, wind your way up into the foothills and to the pilgrim, temple towns of Haridwar and Rishikesh right on the banks of the holy Ganges River.
