The capital city of Lucknow, is full of faded grandeur, enriched with Islamic and British Raj architecture, with wide boulevards, as it stands proud along the banks of the Gomti River. Explore the bazaars on a bustling food tour and experience the tantalising Awadhi cuisine. The tour then turns to fragrant Kannauj, home to the 3000-year-old art of perfumery and the making of ‘attar’ or natural fragrant oils, from flowers such as rose, marigold and jasmine, to natural products such as vetiver, and spices.
Then head to the 600-year-old Rampura Fort, an extraordinary fourteenth generation homestay nestled deep in the Chambal ravines, for a truly authentic rural experience. On then to the enchanting Chambal Safari Lodge, away from the madding crowds, but close to the world-famous monument of love, Taj Mahal and home to some amazing bird life and wildlife on the mighty Chambal river. The tour then ends on the outskirts of Royal Jaipur at Anopura with its inviting service, leafy surroundings and day trips into the bustling Pink City.
