The Lodge at Wah, is set in a pretty location, near the charming mountain town of Palampur, in the heart of the Kangra Valley in Himachal Pradesh.
Framed by the snow capped peaks of the Dhauladhar Himalayas, this original tea estate created back in 1857 is now run by the fourth generation family, who are keen to welcome guests to their beautiful lodge and estate. Take a tea tour with a gentle walk through the plantations to the working factory learning about the time honoured process.
The Lodge at Wah comprises of 8 rooms divided between a couple of cosy cottages, made with traditional building techniques, and natural materials such as mud, stone and slate. With a strong focus on sustainability this rusic dwelling provides a beautiful hillside escape.
The elegant rooms are simple yet stylish with beamed ceilings and gentle earthy tones, wooden furnishing, generous bathrooms and some with balconies. Within the main house you will find the inviting sitting room and dining room serving local organs produce and delicious family recipes. Meals are served family style either in the dining room or gardens.
This mountain estate is all about the outdoors. From the tea plantations to the Nature trains, birdwatching, yoga and inviting bonfires at night.
As part of a wider itinerary The Lodge at Wah is a great base to explore local tea plantations and nearby Dharamshala just an hour away with its Tibetan monasteries and temples. Dharamshala became the seat of the Tibetan government in exile since the 1960’s were the Dalai Lama still resides today. Another place of interest is Bir offering unobstructed view of the mountain peaks along with Billing, known as one of the best paragliding sites in the world.
