Villa Palladio, Jaipur

Villa Palladio is a gracious country estate just 20 minutes from the heart of Jaipur.  This picture postcard, nine room Villa has been conceived as a, palazzo retreat, with a fairy tale palate of Alice and Wonderland bold hues and striking murals.   Built in the 1980’s by the late Thakur Abhay Singh of Kanota, it began as a traditional Rajasthani haveli, however it has been rejuvenated and reimagined by the dynamic duo behind the famous Bar Palladio, with their signature layering of texture, colour and story-telling.

Expect canopied beds, hand embroidered sheets and inlaid marble floors, here each room has been lovingly designed with its own unique feel.  The beautiful bathrooms, contain hand carved marble jaali work and sumptuous marble baths.

At the heart of Villa Palladio is the kitchen creating a menu of exquisite dishes, revolving around seasonal rhythms.  Using a wide range of local produce and home grown organic vegetables the ever-changing menu has something for everyone from traditional thalis to homemade Italian pastas.  Meals are served looking out over the garden to the chorus of birdsong and babbling fountains.  There is no formal restaurant as such, and meals are served on the covered veranda, whilst breakfast is served on the first floor balcony overlooking the surrounding hills.

Set among the pretty gardens and wafting jasmine slip into the tranquil waters of the inviting swimming pool.  Here the arched pool house, tented canopies and inviting pavilion bar offer a perfect afternoon of relaxation and reflection.  Should you require a little solitude, there is a tranquil room – The Eremo for mediation, yoga or a little work out.  Whilst the spa provides signature rituals intended on reawakening the spirt and body, for the mind the library contains a lovingly curated collection from across the globe.
